Solstice® HFO 1234ze BA&PG: the blowing/foaming agent with very low greenhouse effect (GWP)
Solstice® HFO 1234ze BA&PG (trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene) is a blowing/foaming agent developed in the R&D Center of Buffalo (USA) from Honeywell Fluorochemicals.
It has a very low greenhouse effect - LGWP (Low Global Warming Potential); in fact its GWP is equal to 1 kg of CO2.
Honeywell Solstice® HFO-1234ze BA&PG is fully compatible with the new F-Gas regulation and finds application as a foaming agent for polyurethanes, polystirene and other polymers, as well as aerosol propellant; is a safe product to use and is not flammable according to the regulations ASTM E-681 and EU11 (however the flammable limits occur at high ambient temperatures).
In environmental conditions its atmospheric life is equal to only 18 days, which is much less than the 13 years of R-134a.
Performance:
Solstice® HFO 1234ze BA&PG is a non flammable gas; according to the ASHRAE standards 34 ISO817 its classification is A2L.
